If you switched off when Beşiktaş made it 2–2 at Celtic Park, you missed the best bit. Camilo Durán still had time to score his second and give Celtic a 3–2 win, their first points of the Europa League campaign. After three defeats, that late winner must have felt like a long time coming.
### Celtic finally get going
There wasn’t a shot on target in the first half, which tells you how little warning we had for what came next. Junior Olaitan put Beşiktaş ahead after Sam Johnstone saved his penalty, then substitutes Callum Osmand and Durán turned the game around. Orkun Kökçü looked to have salvaged a draw, only for Durán to win it late. Five goals after the break and a very different mood at full-time.
### Ferencváros make it four from four at San Siro
Celtic supplied the drama, but Ferencváros got the result of the night. Milan goalkeeper Lorenzo Torriani had already denied Lenny Joseph five times when the striker finally beat him early in the second half. Joseph then raced clear to make it 2–0. Milan couldn’t pull one back even after Bamidele Yusuf was sent off late.
Four games in, Ferencváros have 12 points and Milan have three. The surprise here was the scoreline at San Siro. The table tells you Ferencváros have been doing this all autumn.
### Bournemouth’s bench changes the game
Bournemouth were a goal down in Prague and had already seen Lewis Cook hit the post with a penalty. Sparta lost Tobias Guddal to a red card before half-time, but Bournemouth still had to find a way through. Tyler Adams got the equaliser, Evanilson put them ahead and Rayan finished the job from distance. All three came off the bench.
That’s four wins from four in Bournemouth’s first European campaign. Benfica are also on 12 points after beating Lech Poznań 3–1 and lead the table at the halfway mark.
### A point for Palace, a first defeat for Sunderland
Daichi Kamada’s late equaliser earned ten-man Crystal Palace a 1–1 draw with Hoffenheim. Sunderland had no such escape. Luka Stojković scored one and set up the other as Dinamo Zagreb won 2–0 at the Stadium of Light, ending Sunderland’s unbeaten run in the competition.
Elsewhere, Teun Koopmeiners scored against his old club as Juventus beat AZ Alkmaar 2–1, Marseille won 1–0 at Bayer Leverkusen, and Real Sociedad and Lyon drew 1–1. Celje and Torreense both came out on the right side of 3–2 scorelines, while Union Saint-Gilloise won 2–1 away to Celta Vigo.
Matchday 5 is on 26 November. Bournemouth go to Celta next, and Milan travel to Olympiacos. At the halfway point, which of those two would you have expected to be chasing points?
