Juventus 0–3 Lazio: Missed Chances Leave Juve Paying a Heavy Price
Juventus endured a difficult evening in Turin as Lazio claimed a convincing 3–0 victory at the Allianz Stadium. Goals from Oliver Provstgaard, Gustav Isaksen and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru settled the contest, leaving the hosts with plenty to reflect on after another damaging league result.
The scoreline suggests a comfortable evening for the visitors, but Juventus had opportunities to change the direction of the match. Their failure to take those chances became increasingly costly as Lazio turned key moments into goals.
Provstgaard supplied the breakthrough in the 37th minute, heading Lazio ahead following a set-piece. It gave the visitors an advantage to protect and left Juventus needing a stronger response after the interval.
That response briefly looked promising. Substitute Nick Woltemade went close to an equaliser after receiving a pass from Randal Kolo Muani, while Nico Gonzalez also sent an effort wide. Those openings offered Juventus a route back, but neither produced the finish they needed.
Isaksen then punished the hosts in the 66th minute. Receiving the ball from Nuno Tavares, he moved onto his left foot and found the far corner. Dele-Bashiru completed the scoring in the 89th minute, carrying the ball forward on a counter-attack before finishing. Lazio’s victory took them to 19 points, level with Inter at the top of Serie A.
The defining difference was what each team made of its opportunities. Juventus had moments that could have brought an equaliser; Lazio supplied the decisive finishes. Once the second goal arrived, the challenge facing the home side became considerably greater.
For Juventus, the concern extends beyond losing three points. Missing an opportunity is part of football, but allowing an opponent to extend its lead during your own recovery makes a comeback much harder. This result underlined the importance of combining attacking urgency with defensive concentration.
Lazio can take considerable confidence from the outcome. Winning away at Juventus is valuable in any circumstances, and doing so by three goals strengthens their impressive early position.
For the hosts, the next response must come on the pitch. They need sharper finishing and greater control of the moments that decide matches. In Turin, Lazio delivered both—and left with a result that reflected it.
