Prep time: 15 mins | Bake time: 10 mins | Yield: 12-14 cookies
Ingredients
-
1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
-
1/2 cup (100g) packed brown sugar
-
1/4 cup (50g) granulated white sugar
-
1 large egg, room temperature
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
1 1/2 cups (185g) all-purpose flour
-
1/2 tsp baking soda
-
1/4 tsp fine salt
-
1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate blocks)
Instructions
-
Prep the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth and combined. Whisk in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
-
Combine dry ingredients: Fold in the flour, baking soda, and salt using a spatula just until a dough forms. Do not overmix.
-
Fold in chocolate: Gentle stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
-
Scoop: Portion 2-tablespoon sized balls of dough onto your prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each.
-
Bake: Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers still look slightly soft.
-
Cool: Remove from the oven and let the cookies rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
