But choosing how to spend your day takes a little thought. Charge straight from one queue to the next and you could miss the history, the entertainment and the slower moments that give the place its character.<\/p>\n

My advice? Pick your headline attractions, leave room for a few surprises and bring people who can laugh at themselves.<\/p>\n

Here are my ten picks across the theme park and wider Gold Reef City entertainment complex.<\/p>\n

1. Take on the Anaconda<\/h2>\n

Let\u2019s start with a statement of intent.<\/p>\n

Anaconda\u2019s inverted coaster puts your legs out in the open while the track does its work overhead. It\u2019s a strong choice for thrill seekers looking for that first proper rush of the day.<\/p>\n

This is where the group\u2019s self-appointed daredevil gets to prove a point. Just remember: everyone else gets to judge the scream afterwards.<\/p>\n

2. Face the Tower of Terror<\/h2>\n

The name sets expectations pretty clearly.<\/p>\n

Tower of Terror uses a former mineshaft as part of its dramatic drop, giving the ride a connection to Gold Reef City\u2019s mining setting. That\u2019s quite a way to make use of the location.<\/p>\n

The Giant Wheel offers elevated views and a chance to take in the setting from above. It earns its place because a slower ride can be just as welcome as the next adrenaline hit.<\/p>\n
