Andy Carrol finally scored as Liverpool thumped Brighton -1. Carrol scored a sublime 3rd after good work from Downing. The Big man fell far too often on the first half. I watched the game with three Liverpool purists, Jack,Shazo and Mike. The okes were passionate when Lua Lua scored a stunning free kick for Brighton to equalise. I thought here we go again and FA Cup pulls surprises. I did however tell the lads that vivtory was inevitable. And we routed them. Suarez got onto the score sheet after missing an earlier penalty and it was vital for him to net in open play.  Brighton were plagued by own goals. I thought Liverpool woke up well in the second half. I was particularly impressed by Enrique at Full Back. Carrol funny enough gained some confidence when he set up Suarez after good work from Enrique on the left. Its Stoke at Anfield now and somehow the prospect of an FA Cup final look strong.

Earlier on Chelsea were lucky as Sturidge saved AVB with an equaliser against Birmingham. Chelsea are in shambles and you can just see that AVB will be on his way out in due time.They were lucky to get a point.

Arsenals woes continued and as usual they start the year with a bang and then fade away. They were soundly beaten by Martin O Neils Sunderland and there goes Wengers hopes of any Silverware this season. Arsenal were poor an Im sure the purists like Moosa Areff and Jive Bhamjee must be hissing and cussing. I always told them. The Darool Uloom is not for madressah laaities.

Everton won and Spurs drew. But for now Wembley is becoming a stark reality for us boys firm the KOP

5 fours and 13 sixes is what Richard Levi smashed in his unbeaten knock in the second T20 International against New Zealand. Massive,Clean hitting enabled SA to chase down 174 with four overs to spare. The Kiwi batsmen again got stuck in with the Protea bowlers but Levi and AB De Villiers saw the boys home. Levi broke records in his 51 ball knock.

When I met okes on Sunday all I heard was Levi. Great stuff for our boys as they bounce back into contention. The final T20 takes place on Wednesday. What do you think of Levis knock. He is already compared to Kluesener. SA lost the wickets of Amla and strangely sent in at three,Waleed Wayne Parnel. Can Levi repeat his heroics on Wednesday

Id like to hear you views on this. If players like Roy keane,Patrick Viera, Genaro Gatusso,The Guvee, Batty,Vinny Jones and even Claudio Gentile were playing against Suarez.What would they have done to him?

The Proteas lost their first T20 International today as Martin Guptil punished the attack. South Africa dont seem to be faring well in this format of the game lately but a few positives were drawn from the game. Justin Ontong in particular was fantastic as he blugeoned four sixes in a row of spinner Kane Williamson. Amla was run out ala Jonty Rhodes style and as soon as the Proteas got themselves going or started developing a partnership we lost a wicket. 148 was not enough as the Kiwis coasted to victory with six wickets sto spare.

Hashim Amla took a splendid catch early on but the Proteas are one down. We leave you with birthday boy AB De Villiers blowing out his candles in the Change Room

Swoosh0018 always follows the Proteas and Hash when we tour. This time we go to New Zealand. Hopefully we will try to catch up with Protea Team Manager Muhammed Moosajee when we can. But Swoosh0018 will be following the series. So far the squad departed last week from OR Tambo international airport and a warm up game this week. The first Pro 20 starts tomorow.
